Parliamentary Learning Lab: Professional Responsibility

Determine the difference between fact and opinion as you test your abilities at using the Code for Professional Responsibility to process right from wrong. This learning lab is made possible in part by a grant from the NAP Educational Foundation. (1.5 CEU)

  • Lynna Gene Cook, PRP

    Lynna Gene Cook, PRP, serves as the Chair of the NAP Style, Editing, and Proofreading Committee. She is the current secretary of the Nebraska State Association of Parliamentarians (NSAP) and served six years as the president. As an active member of the Star City Area Unit of Parliamentarians, she is serving as vice-president and has served as secretary and chair of the membership and education committees. Church activities include serving as parliamentarian and secretary for over 20 years at Fellowship Community Church. Other activities include serving as parliamentarian for Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) at the local and state levels, as well as president of the local (six years) and DKG state organizations.

  • Lisa Grant DeGraffenreidt, PRP

    Lisa DeGraffenreidt is a distinguished cybersecurity and privacy attorney with over 20 years of experience. Licensed to practice law in the State of New York since 2010, Lisa has built a notable career rooted in a passion for ensuring data integrity and protecting privacy. In addition to her legal expertise, she has been a Professional Registered Parliamentarian since 2017, participating in the Parliamentarians of New Castle County and Green Gavel Units of the National Association of Parliamentarians.

    Lisa has served as a Professional Parliamentarian for several nonprofit organizations, primarily offering her expertise to her member organizations. She is deeply committed to the art of parliamentary procedure, advocating for fairness and ethical conduct. Her favorite quote from the preamble in the Code of Professional Responsibility is, "As guardians of parliamentary procedure, we play a vital role in the preservation of a democratic society. A consequent obligation is to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct," and it perfectly encapsulates her dedication to the role.

    Living in Delaware with her husband and daughter, Lisa enjoys traveling, playing tennis as a beginner, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Her commitment to helping organizations achieve their mission and goals through fair deliberation and debate is a testament to her professional and personal values.
